Book excerpt: Exploratory factor analysis indicated that the environmental and genetic exposure of individuals with psoriasis and AD is comprised of five factors: (1) Allergic tendencies; (2) Healthy behaviors; (3) Family psoriasis; (4) Smoking; and (5) Alcohol. The correlational analysis yielded positive relationships between having eczema and allergic history, between severity of skin condition and anxiety, and between severity of skin condition and allergic history. In addition, a correlational analysis revealed a negative correlation between having psoriasis and allergic history. A stepwise multiple discriminant analysis showed that individuals with psoriasis and AD differed in allergic history. In addition, using stepwise linear regression, the study found that anxiety and vitamin intake predicts the severity of AD and psoriasis.
