Book Synopsis Synthesis and Characterization of Lanthanide Complexes for Use in Near-infrared Light Emitting Diodes by : Alison Steele Knefely
Book excerpt: ABSTRACT: The synthesis and characterization of a series of new lanthanide porphyrin and phthalocyanine complexes was investigated in order to study the luminescence properties of these complexes for polymer light emitting diodes. These lanthanide complexes consist of the near-infrared emitting lanthanides (Ln=PrP3+P, NdP3+P, HoP3+P, TmP3+P, YbP3+P), a macrocyclic chromophore to sensitize the emission of the lanthanide ion, and a capping ligand to encapsulate and shield the lanthanide from solvent molecules that affect emission efficiency.
