Book excerpt: My father, Jed Tanner, kept a journal most of his life. He compiled these journals into a personal history. Toward the end of his life he began writing a personal trading history. Unfortunately, he was unable to complete the latter before his death. I've done my best to finish it. My career was in construction. I have some exposure to the markets, but nothing like what dad possessed. Dad's company was bought by a large firm out of Chicago when I was still a child. He spoke often of his time at the Chamber and MGEX and I knew this meant a great deal to him.For years, I've intended to complete his trading text to include the many trading experiences he told me first-hand. When I retired, I realized I'm reaching the twilight of my life. If I didn't complete his work now, all the experiences told to me would disappear with my death. The following is a combination of his original trading history and the experiences he told me. Although lacking in trading experience myself, I hope I've done an adequate job and others will learn from dad's insights into the markets. If there are mistakes, they are my own. I've done my best to keep dad's original text intact. Where I've had to make additions, know these additions were made by a construction worker, not by a trader. That said, I hope other traders will benefit from the trading insights of a great man.Very respectfully,Jed Tanner Jr., 2016
