Book excerpt: This report presents a cost analysis of Toluene Diisocyanate (TDI) production from dinitrotoluene (DNT). The process examined is a typical reductive carbonylation process. This process is comprised of two-steps: DNT initially undergoes reductive carbonylation to form toluene dimethylcarbamate; then the carbamate is thermally decomposed to produce TDI.
