Book Synopsis The Pete & Polly Stories by : Carolyn Wells
Book excerpt: After Pete had built his airship, the "Hopping Hollyhock" he proposed to travel to the North Pole, and of course Polly joined him. The ship was manned by 17 green monkeys who wore white aprons (but had no hats). By accident, Pete aimed the Hopping Hollyhock the wrong way, so as they crossed the equator, Polly made hats for the monkeys. After the monkeys were comfortably hatted, they continued to the South Pole where they had many adventures.
