Book excerpt: John Corbly was born near London, England, in 1733. He immigrated to America and was living at Winchester, Virginia, by 1752, when he married Abigail Bull (1734-1768). They had four children, 1758- 1768. He was a Baptist minister and soon after his wife's death, he decided to go to the frontier to open new fields of work. He married 2) Elizabeth Tyler, ca. 1773. They had five children, 1774-1782. Elizabeth and four of their children were massacred by Indians in 1782. He married 3) Nancy Ann Lynn (1761-1836). They had eight children, one of which died young, 1785-1801. He died in 1803 at Garard's Fort, Greene County, Pennsylvania. Descendants lived in Pennsylvania, Illinois, Indiana, and elsewhere.
