Book excerpt: Report notifies registrants, pesticide regulatory officials, & interested parties that the active ingredients in pest control products used for heavy duty wood preservation are subject to re-evaluation by authority of the Pest Control Product Regulations. Heavy duty wood preservatives include products applied under pressure or thermally. Pressure-treated wood is used for railroad ties, lumber, timber & plywood, pilings, posts, cross arms, & poles. This report provides the rationale for re-evaluation, response required, & data submission. It also discusses U.S. regulatory aspects, the priority substance list of the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, & procedures.
